Easy Beetroot halwa recipe

Carrot and beetroot halwa are always loved at home due to this simplicity and the unique taste.The basis of these halwa is the same.This easy way includes vegetable is sauteed in ghee and cooked in milk.Another way includes adding condesed milk,kova to enhance richness.But I love this one and the way it melts down the throat.The interesting part is that without seeing the color of the halwa you couldn't guess that there is vegetable in it.This is the best way I would suggest to treat unexpected guests and your kids.Try this one and taste unique flavors.

Serves-5

We need: 

Beetroot - 3 (cleaned and grated)
Ghee-2 tbsp
Sugar-1 cup
Boiled Milk-1/2 cup
Cardamom-2 crushed
Cashews-few

Method:


  1. Melt ghee in a pan and roast cashews in low flame.Remove it to a plate.
  2. In the same pan add the grated beet and  saute it for 5 mins in low flame.
  3. Pour in milk and cook beet with closed lid for 5 mins in medium flame.

  4. Add sugar, cardamom powder and mix till sugar melts.Boil till excess water vapours.

  5. Throw in cashews,mix well and switch off the flame.
  6. Serve hot or chilled with bondas/bajjis.
