Karunai kilangu puli masiyal recipe

 I love amma for her quick tadaa recipes.She has a magical hand in her simple recipes and yet she manages to bring those awesome taste with minimum ingredients.This one is one of her easy do recipes which everyone in the family loves.I requested her to do it patiently so that I could make a post.We used to mix this masiyal with steamed rice,gingely oil and eat.It is also a good side for rasam rice or curd rice.So here it is straight from our kitchen,try this and enjoy.
Preparation time:15 mins (Cooking yam )
Cooking time:10 mins
Serves-4

We need:

Cooked yam-1 big (mashed)
Gingely oil - 2 tbsp
Mustard seeds-1 tsp
Urad dal-1 tsp
Dry red chili-4
Curry leaves-1 sprig
Onion-1 chopped
Turmeric powder-1 tsp
Tamarind paste - 1 tbsp
Water-2 tbsp
Salt as required

Method:

Preparation:
Wash and cut yam into pieces,add 2 cup water and pressure cook it for 5 whistles.Once pressure releases mash it.

  1. Heat oil in a pan,add mustard , once it splutters add urad dal,chilies,curry leaves and temper.
  2. Add onions,turmeric powder and saute well till onions turn translucent.
  3. Add in mashed yam,tamarind paste,salt and water.Mix well and lower the flame.Close with lid and cook for 5 mins.
  4. Serve with steamed rice and rasam.
