Soya Chunks Crispy Fry
Soya Chunks Masala fry (My recipe)
This is the spicy way I do chicken fry slightly adapted from Arthi's blog.. She is my all time inspiration in cooking.Since my mom dislikes chicken,I made it for her in a veg version. It was a super hit with my family and my little nephew. It has become my signature dish and is one of the regular dishes we do thrice a month. Here it is just for my vegan friends ..

Garlic-3 cloves

The Formula
- Boil water in a pan with a tsp of milk.Once it bubbles up switch off the flame and soak the Soya chunks in it. (Adding milk reduces the soya flavor. I personally hate it )
- Let it rest for 5 mins. In the mean time gather all the ingredients under "To Grind" .Grind them to a fine mixture without adding water.
- The chunks must have doubled in size by now.Strain them and wash them once with water.Press them to remove all the water. Removing water gives good texture and a oil free fry.
- Cut the chunks into two.Marinate the chunks with the ground mixture and rest them for 10 mins.
- Heat oil for deep frying. After 10 mins mix the rice flour in the marinated chunks and drop them in hot oil by few in batches.
- Fry them in medium flame for 3 mins and in high flame for 2 mins or till they turn brown and crisp.
- Our spicy chunks is ready! Simple isn't it? Always delectable recipes are simple and easy.
Serve them as it is or with dips if desired. I love them as it is. A pretty weekend snack which will get you praises. Try them and let me know..You can even use smaller soya chunks.
You can even try them with chicken. If so increase the marination time to 30 mins or refrigerate overnight. Make them a party snack or a starter.. Yummly!
